KYC POLICY
PURPOSE
- The implementation of this policy aims to ensure that:
- Processes and controls are adopted to mitigate the risk of the Company being used, intentionally or not, for money laundering (AML) or terrorist financing (CFT) purposes;
- Clients with potential risk are properly identified;
- The Company complies with its legal obligations related to anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons (AML/CFT);
- AML/CFT Policies and Procedures, Privacy Policies, Customer Interaction Procedures, and Responsible Gaming Policy are implemented and followed.
- Identify addicted players in order to adopt the best responsible gaming practices.
CUSTOMER STATUS
A customer is defined as any individual who has established a business relationship with the company by creating an account on the website meridianbet.bet.br.
The company’s operational or reputational risk is linked to the customer’s economic activity and the origin of their funds, assessed during the registration process.
Access to the site may be denied if the MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) identifies significant risk. Reasons for denying or closing an account include:
- Links with high-risk jurisdictions for AML/CFT;
- Submission of false documents during the identity verification process (CDD);
- Use of multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes;
- Submission of expired or illegible identification documents;
- Refusal to provide the required documents during the CDD process;
- Identification of a minor during registration;
- Being considered a Politically Exposed Person (PEP) or Publicly Exposed Person.
CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE CONDITIONS
Before starting or ending a business relationship, the company performs the following checks:
Age verification:
Only individuals over 18 can register and place bets on the site. If there are doubts about a customer’s age after registration, their account will be suspended until clarification.
Geographical origin verification:
Residence and place of birth are analyzed at registration. Customers from high-risk countries may be prevented from accessing the platform.
Biometric verification:
At initial registration, and in other cases provided for in Ordinance 1,231/2024, the platform user is subject to biometric identification, such as facial recognition, to ensure unequivocal identification, as a means of preventing betting by minors, prohibited persons, and other restrictions provided by law and regulated by the Ministry of Finance.
Customer risk verification:
The Company may suspend or limit services to customers who present indications of:
- Use of duplicate accounts;
- Suspicious origin of funds;
- Criminal history or presence on sanctions lists;
- Being a Politically Exposed Person (PEP), a relative of a PEP, or included in a restriction list related to Law 14,790/2023 or SPA/MF Ordinances regulating the sector;
- Occupation and employment status inconsistent with the transactions carried out;
- Atypical behaviors.
Product/interface risk verification:
Some games represent a higher risk for AML/CFT. The Company categorizes these risks considering:
- Type of game accessed;
- Delivery channel (online or physical);
- Mode of interaction (anonymity or in-person verification).
